What is a WordPress Contributor?

Table of Contents

A WordPress Contributor is one of six user roles in a default WordPress installation. The WordPress Contributor can read all posts, delete their posts, and editing them. However, they cannot publish, edit or delete published posts, or upload media files.

Why Assign a WordPress Contributor role?

The Contributor role is an ideal choice for site owners wishing to allow other people to come to write on their websites. In general, user roles are convenient when it comes to multi-author WordPress sites.

Can the WordPress Contributor Role be Edited?

Although every role has a predefined set of capabilities, site owners can add and remove new capabilities from each role by using plugins. Entirely new ones can also be added and removed. Plugins also can provide website admins with even more control over the capabilities of each user role.
